The Speech of the Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs

There is a clear vision and message for the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, aimed at community engagement through continuous communication with both the internal and external community, offering ideas and solutions that contribute to development and self-resource enhancement. This is achieved through specialized units and continuous cooperation with institutions and civil society organizations.

With the growing attention to environmental issues and their protection, and the state's focus on safeguarding the surrounding risks, there is a strong emphasis on conservation through participation and awareness. The Community Service and Environmental Development Sector is dedicated to defining general policies, preparing the necessary plans for environmental conservation and development, and studying the needs of the college community and its surroundings for awareness, technical support, and coordination with the concerned authorities. This reflects the importance of this vital sector, which is why the college's organizational structure includes a Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

The widespread concept of total quality in higher education, combined with the rapid advancements in modern technological fields, has made the concept of community service and environmental development one of the core pillars of the college's vision and mission. It has become essential for the Faculty of Science at Helwan University to play an educational, research, and service role that benefits the surrounding community as we aim to develop the environment. Our faculty, along with many other faculties at our esteemed university, has been a pioneer in this area, focusing on awareness campaigns for various community issues through comprehensive or specialized service convoys, training programs, and environmental development planning, as well as helping improve and enhance the performance of employees in various public and private sector organizations. We also conduct workshops and educational seminars to raise environmental awareness across different segments of society.

Community participation is a vital aspect of the institutional capacity of the faculty. It is one of the key components through which the faculty can serve the internal community of the university and extend these services outside the university walls, allowing the academic community to blend into the surrounding civil society.

From this perspective, the faculty is working to achieve the highest levels of true community participation by offering academic programs capable of producing graduates needed by society. This can only be achieved by involving the beneficiary organizations in defining the skills required by the job market. As a result, the programs offered are modified and improved through community involvement.
