About the Department of Geological Sciences
The Geology Department at the Faculty of Science – Helwan University was established in 1995 to prepare students scientifically and technically in Earth Sciences and equip them to use modern technologies. It is located on the first three floors of Building No. 6 and is staffed by distinguished faculty members.
The department offers specializations such as minerals and rocks, paleontology and stratigraphy, geophysics and seismology, structural geology, and petroleum and water geology.
It awards Bachelor’s degrees in Geology, Geophysics, and Geology & Chemistry, as well as Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s, and PhD degrees in multiple disciplines.
Earth Sciences offer wide career prospects and freelance opportunities. Since its inception, the department has held a strong reputation due to its well-developed curriculum aligned with market needs. Its programs aim to prepare graduates for careers in both the public and private sectors.
