Paper and Printing Lab at the Faculty

Helwan University's Faculty of Science stands out with its Applied Chemistry division within the Chemistry Department. This division focuses on teaching the chemistry and technology of local industries to produce graduates capable of meeting the demands of the job market. Among these industries are paper and ink manufacturing. For this reason, the Paper and Printing Lab was established in the Chemistry Department in 1992. This aligns with Helwan University's mission as a technological university. The lab's team is dedicated to linking research with industry and is committed to publishing their research in specialized international scientific journals.


Lab Accreditation

The lab has been accredited by the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC), which is the sole specialized body in the Arab Republic of Egypt responsible for evaluating and accrediting labs. This accreditation was based on Independent Accreditation Committee Decision No. 2012/130, dated 2012/12/5. The lab participates in proficiency testing programs with the Pira Institute in the United Kingdom and the National Institute of Standards and Metrology (Egypt).


Quality Policy within the Paper and Printing Lab

The management of the Paper and Printing Lab is committed to ensuring that all tests and measurements requested by clients are performed with a high and distinguished level of accuracy and quality, in compliance with the requirements of the international standard for lab accreditation, ISO/IEC 17025:2005.

The lab's quality policy aims to:

  • Accuracy of results, measurements, and data.
  • Application and verification of the quality system at all stages of testing and measurements.
  • Providing the highest level of confidentiality for client data.

Beneficiaries of the Lab

The lab serves:

  • The industrial sector, including companies involved in paper, cardboard, plastics, textiles, inks, resins, and printing presses.
  • The scientific research sector, including research centers and institutes, and universities that conduct applied scientific research in the fields of paper, cardboard, printing, and inks.

Additionally, the lab provides training for workers in the aforementioned industries and qualifies undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students in these applied fields, thus preparing them for work in the industrial sector.
