About the Department of Zoology and Entomology
The Department of Zoology and Entomology was established in the academic year 1995-1996. The department provides numerous services to students in other departments within the college, in addition to its specializations. The department's educational services also extend to students in other colleges, such as the College of Education, Home Economics, and Engineering. Several developments have been made to the curriculum. The teaching of zoology and entomology courses in the department has undergone several developments to keep pace with global developments in physiology, histology, cytology, embryology, animal classification, invertebrates, chordates, genetics, immunology, parasitology, ecology, technology, evolution, aquaculture, fauna, cell biology, radiobiology, molecular biology, comparative anatomy, histochemistry, and insects. The Zoology Department is located in Building D of the College of Science and includes a large number of faculty members and support staff.
The department accepts high school students in the science stream.
The department awards a Bachelor of Science degree to students majoring in biological sciences in the following programs: zoology and chemistry.
The department also awards Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in the following specializations:
1. Physiology and Environment.
2. Invertebrates, Parasitology, and Immunology.
3. Cells, Tissues, Histochemistry, and Genetics.
4. Comparative Anatomy and Embryology.
5. Entomology
